Stalking at Sunset ~ Acrylic with texturized underpainting ~ 12" x 24" |
I started this last November as a demo at a local museum. HATED it at the time, because it was just "off." Since I have been modestly succesful with a few of my recent works post-Jacqui Beck Workshop, I felt brave enough to take this on again. Have to say that, in real life, it glows. The photo doesn't ... glow, that is. Still not my favorite piece, but I like it much more now than the way it was back in November.

It's a great painting Dee. Sometimes we, ourselves, just cannot 'see' a painting as others do, but believe me it's a great painting.
It's a good thing you keep the art you've done and not loved....because although we didn't see the original, this result is GREAT! You are such an inspiration!!
Dee - this painting does glow...it is lovely and the colors are awesome.
It looks really good - I enlarged it so I could see that texture up close :)
Thank you Ann, you are so supportive! The starting demo was really off, and I didn't like where is was going, so I just figured I would paint over it. I "lost" the cattails, and changed the palette a bit, and this was the result. Better. I AM liking it more now.
Linda, You are right. You should see all my "kept" but unloved paintings! I call it the Gallery i nthe Closet! At least I always have a spare canvas to play with. I am enjoying this one more, because all of you are as well. Thank yo ufor your comments!
I LOVE this painting! I should know, 'cause my mommy does art too. ;) She used to paint, but for the past few years she's been focusing on colored pencils and some acrylics. I'm gonna show her your beautiful work later. :)
Woofs & hugs, <3
~Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)
Brab and Rhonda, You are both always so supportive! It is because of you and folks like you that I continue to dare and trust doing more painting! Thanks again for your comments!
That's BARB! :-)
thanks, Bailey. Tell your mom I saw her drawings. Very nice!
Love this one Dee! I would love to take the Beck workshop...looks like you had some wonderful breakthroughs and are having fun with the new techniques you learned! Think I may tackle a series and see what I come up with...know what you mean about not wanting to do it over and over again though...maybe I have some Aries in me too! There is always new inspiration around the corner. HA!
Hi Dee. If you take the size, texture and colours into account, I'm pretty sure this is a vibrant painting. Wonderful works and thank you for letting me know about your blog.
